You will be given the handout for the Major Independent assignment today. Suggested work to start today and complete for tomorrow: Make note on Section 7.1 p 471 to 474 (Solution formation,solubility, saturated, miscible, immiscible, temperature, supersaturated etc), then do p 193 # 1 to 10 from 7.1

Chem 112-
1. At the start of the class one question from the homework on stoichiometry will be gone over.
2, Stoichiometry Work assigned for today is as follows. You will work on some of this in class.
From the mole green sheet do sheet #8 (.this worksheet should go quickly because you are provided with balanced chemical equations.)
3.For the last half of class
You were given 20-30 minutes to work on making your own notes from a handout on reactions in aqueous solution(11.3 from independent assignment). You handed in the answers for marking but you made your own notes. Please do 28,30 to 33 and 34abc and 35 abc for tomorrow.

1. You watched youtubes on surface tension-Bill Nye, Smart alloys and metallic bonding for about 15 minutes then were given the rest of the time for your independent assignment.

Monday April 28-Reminder: Independent assignment includes Cue card(with formulas and points that you might forget like miscible or surfactant etc), 20 fill in the blank questions, answers to fill in the blank on a separate page and the work all neatly organized from the table. It needs to be placed in a duotang. The directions are clearly outlined on your handout. It is important to get your work signed off each day as you complete it.

Monday May 5
1. The answers for the stoichiometry questions from sheet 8 will be checked and then you will work on an assignment. This Solvay process assignment will be due on wednesday. Reminder that the weekend assignment on concentration is due tomorrow.
2-You will start an assignment on the Solvay Process today. This will involve working with a partner to research this process and find the information for it. Each person will design a pamphlet for this that informs someone about the Solvay Process.
3-The documents that you need are attached below for any absent people. .
Solvay Process assignment: Make an information pamphlet on the Solvay Process which informs someone about the Solvay Process and how important it is to every day life. It should be colourful creative, neat and make someone want to read it. Use pictures/ diagrams and show the history, the process and products, byproducts and list references on the back. You may decide to create your pamphlet on the computer PASS IN BOTH PAMPHLET AND QUESTIONS ON LOOSELEAF.

Things you might include might be a history or background, what it is , what it makes ie: products and byproducts, what the reaction is, and so on. Please include references. 1-Concentration weekend assignment is due today.

-Today we will work with Lewis electron dot diagrams.
Chem 112-PRE-LAB must be completed to start labs.. We start labs friday.
Tomorrow the Solvay Process assignment is due. Do not forget the pre-lab assignment for friday
Today we completed our discussion on Lewis Dot diagrams, and then structural diagrams. We went over lewis dot diagrams, structural diagrams, lone pairs, bonding pairs, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and multiple bonds, bonding capacity. We also drew bromine, acetic acid, methane and nitrogen. You drew both lewis electron dot diagrams and structural diagrams. Assigned questions: pink sheet 7,8 p 220 #8 and p 229 19 to 21
